Si creem dos o més membres amb el mateix nom però diferents en nombre o tipus de paràmetre, es coneix com a sobrecàrrega de C++. En C++, podem sobrecarregar:

  • mètodes,
  • constructors, i
  • propietats indexades

És perquè aquests membres només tenen paràmetres.

Els tipus de sobrecàrrega en C++ són:

La sobrecàrrega de funcions es defineix com el procés de tenir dues o més funcions amb el mateix nom, però diferents en paràmetres es coneix com a sobrecàrrega de funcions en C++. En la sobrecàrrega de funcions, la funció es redefineix utilitzant diferents tipus d'arguments o un nombre diferent d'arguments. Només a través d'aquestes diferències el compilador pot diferenciar les funcions.

El avantatge de la sobrecàrrega de funcions és que augmenta la llegibilitat del programa perquè no cal utilitzar noms diferents per a la mateixa acció.

Sobrecàrrega de funcions i ambigüitat

Quan el compilador no pot decidir quina funció s'ha d'invocar entre la funció sobrecarregada, aquesta situació es coneix com sobrecàrrega de funcions .

Quan el compilador mostra l'error d'ambigüitat, el compilador no executa el programa.

Causes de la sobrecàrrega de funcions:

Ón el tipus de retorn és el tipus de valor que retorna la funció.

nom_classe és el nom de la classe.

operador op és una funció d'operador on op és l'operador que s'està sobrecarregant i l'operador és la paraula clau.

Normes per a la sobrecàrrega de l'operador

  • Els operadors existents només es poden sobrecarregar, però els nous operadors no es poden sobrecarregar.
  • L'operador sobrecarregat conté almenys un operand del tipus de dades definit per l'usuari.
  • No podem utilitzar la funció d'amic per sobrecarregar determinats operadors. Tanmateix, la funció membre es pot utilitzar per sobrecarregar aquests operadors.
  • Quan els operadors unaris es sobrecarreguen mitjançant una funció membre no prenen arguments explícits, però, si es sobrecarreguen amb una funció amiga, pren un argument.
  • Quan els operadors binaris es sobrecarreguen mitjançant una funció membre prenen un argument explícit, i si es sobrecarreguen mitjançant una funció amiga pren dos arguments explícits.
